Fracture Healing at Mid Suffolk Physiotherapy

We treat many different patients, from motocross riders, BMX riders, horse riders, speedway riders, and many more, from all over the UK. We offer the option to have up to three treatment sessions in one day, which can save you several journeys. You can book online for this treatment, but it will only allow you to book for one session at at time, so please call us on 01449 774506, if you would like to book consecutive sessions in one day. All fracture healing treatments used at the clinic are the same as those used by Brian Simpson in Ipswich.

You do not need to bring x-rays with you, but if you have them, or have any information regarding your injury, please do bring it with you. You do not need to take any precautions prior to, or after the sessions. These treatments are available for patients of any age. Both treatments can be done with plaster casts, braces and with metalwork in situ. We cannot offer these treatments if you have a pacemaker.

Pulsed Magnetic Field Therapy (PMFT)

This is a pain free and non-invasive treatment which uses a pulsed magnetic field to create an electrical current, that attracts cells for the healing process. It does this by creating a better blood vessel network (angiogenesis) to get everything to the healing site more quickly. The treatment also reduces pain, inflammation and swelling. This was approved for use with fractures by the American FDA in 1979. As well as being used to speed up fracture healing, this treatment is also very effective for reducing pain and inflammation from other bone or soft tissue injuries.

Laser Therapy

A pain free and non-invasive treatment. This is an extremely powerful 5W laser which accelerates the rate at which bone producing cells function, improves blood supply, decreases inflammation and reduces pain. This is used for fracture healing and can penetrate a plaster cast with ease so there is no need for the plaster to be removed for treatment. You need to wear a pair of safety goggles to protect your eyes whilst the treatment is applied. It is also used to treat shingles and many soft tissue conditions.
